Kuwait City, Kuwait – July 2021 – Al Bustan Al Khaleeji (BK)Company, a leading FMCG company in Kuwait, announced the achievement of the International Standard “Food Safety System Certification-FSSC 22000”, Version 5.1-G1 & G2, which makes Al Bustan Al Khaleeji the first FMCG company to receive this version of the certification in the Middle East region. FSSC 22000 is a distinguished certification recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), which was established in May 2000 by the International Trade Association and the Consumer Goods Forum in Belgium. GFSI recognition demonstrates that BK meets the highest standards globally, leading to international food industry acceptance.
BK’s certification was issued by Bureau Veritas, an international independent certifying body, that confirmed BK’s policies, procedures, and control measures are compliant to meet the standards of transportation and storage services of perishable food (G1) and ambient food (G2). Besides this certification, the company has also achieved two more accreditations. ISO Quality Management System Certification 9001:2015 and ISO Food Safety Management System (FSMS) Certification 22000: 2018.
“At BK, we always hold ourselves to a high set of standards in everything we do. We are honored that our Food Safety System has been certified to the latest FSSC 22000 V.5.1 standard as the first in the region. This is an assurance to our customers and our partners that we operate to the highest standards of quality and safety. I congratulate the entire BK team for their work on achieving this important accreditation,” said Aalok Suryavanshi, General Manager, Al Bustan AL Khaleeji Company.
